Prank Wars

I would be surprised to meet someone who went to BYU who didn't either participate in, get in the crossfire of, or know someone who was involved in pranks among students living on or off campus. I know that the places I lived had our fair share of such interactions between the guys apartments and girls apartments.

Recently at a writer's conference, I reconnected with a girl I had known at BYU because we were in a student film together. She wrote the book Prank Wars. I just read it this week. I just have to say that she captured the culture at BYU very well. I had to laugh at this book -- it was really great. Ladies, if you want a good, smile-inducing reminder of your time at BYU or some ideas for good pranks, go check out her novel!

Seize the Day

You've probably seen this going around social media the last few days. BYU Vocal Point and other BYU performers pull off a 4-minute a cappella music video of their Newsies Medley without any cuts! It captures the spirit and enthusiasm that can be found while attending BYU. Open the gates and seize the day!

Even the Broadway cast of Newsies thinks BYU is pretty cool. Yes, keep "carrying the banner" BYU!

Hot and Smart: Yes Ladies and Gentlemen, You picked the right school!

I just wanted to share the results of an interesting study. Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah is the top college in the nation for students who are hot and smart.
(And BYU-I coming in at #15 is pretty impressive too!)

Celebrating a Decision to Attend BYU

It all began when my sister-in-law decided to attend BYU-Hawaii. For anyone who understands the staunch rivalry between the red and blue schools in Utah, they will understand when I say that she crossed the line. I was thrilled for her. The consolation prize for my red-preferring in-laws? The BYU-H school logo is red. But remember family, her favorite color is blue.

After searching for something that would get her excited about all things BYU, I decided to write her a compilation of advice relating to my own experience at BYU. During her first semester, I sent her a college survival package in the mail with a homemade small spiral-bound blue book.

A publisher in Utah seemed to think that there might be more people out there who want to encourage their college student. Leicester Bay Books decided to publish The BYU College Survival Handbook: From One Blue Girl to Another under the Zion BookWorks imprint.

From its Gorgeous Gals Club to the Roommate Rewards Program, The BYU College Survival Handbook: From One Blue Girl to Another is a brief, light-hearted book of anecdotal advice. It is the perfect gift book for the Latter-day Saint female freshman just learning to test her abilities, a recent high school graduate excited for the next step, or even a seasoned college student who wants to smile. The insightful and sometimes humorous advice will motivate, inspire, and encourage anyone, but especially those with BYU connections, who has gone to college or lives away from home.

You can purchase it at Zion BookWorks or Amazon.com.
